Migraine Journey Wednesdays (Vol. 12 – Lauren, Desiree, Makayla)

Lauren

My name is Lauren, I’m 16 and I’m from Scotland. I started getting migraines 12 years ago and I would wake up screaming from the pain that I was in. Thankfully, the people around me are supportive and understanding of my condition. However, it has definitely taken a toll on my life, especially for school. When things get unbearable, the best method of relief for me is to put a cool patch on my head, take some pain killers, and just lie down.

Desiree

I’m from Canada and I’ve had migraines for 4 years. I’m Desiree, 21 this year. Contrary to what most people think, the people have been very supportive and understanding. Because of migraines, I have to miss school and it affects my daily life greatly. I’ve tried mostly medication related treatments and they have not been effective for me at all. Sleeping is the best way to try to cope. To other fellow migraineurs, keep going on, you’re never alone!

Mikayla

I’ve had migraines for as long as I can remember. My mom also gets migraines and sometimes when mine get so bad I can’t have any sound or light in my room. My name is Mikayla and I’m from the USA, and I am only 17 years old. Migraines has made school life for me very hard. When I’m at school and I get a very bad attack, I feel like I can’t concentrate. I’ve taken 2 different kinds of medicines and my doctors think my migraines come from my eyes but my glasses don’t help. On days things get really hard and unbearable, I just get under the covers and not talk to anyone. My best advice to people who are suffering from migraines is to talk to your doctor! They’ll know best what to do.
