Migraine Journey Wednesday (Vol.24 – Vitji)

My Migraine History

I’m 15 and I’m from Namibia. I started getting migraines 2 years ago. It all started when I was in SA, I just got unusual dizziness. Back then, I probably thought that it was due to the weather, that my head was probably not used to it.

However, I got back to Namibia and the dizziness just wouldn’t go away and still remained. After 2 months, my migraine “started”. We visited the doctor a lot at that time and he finally referred me to a neurologist.

I have been lucky and the people around me have been really understanding towards my migraines. Migraines have affected my life so much that I basically can’t do anything when I have them. As for treatments, I’ve been to the hospital for them but they really haven’t been really effective for me. All they do is just make me fat 🙁

When things get really unbearable, I really feel like I’m suffering so much and there are times where I think I just can’t take it anymore. I just try to sleep it off but sometimes it just makes it worse. I’m praying things get better for me and everyone else in the future.

Thank you, Vitji, for stepping forward to share your migraine journey with everyone. When you share your stories it not only helps others but you heal in the process too.
